The US has added a surcharge for Non-DOCX filings, and we have a couple of small PCT and Madrid fee updates this week.

New US Surcharge
Effective January 17, 2024, any specifications, claims, or abstracts not filed in DOCX format will incur a surcharge.
- Large Entity Non-DOCX surcharge: 400 USD
- Small Entity Non-DOCX surcharge: 160 USD
- Micro Entity Non-DOCX surcharge: 80 USD

Egypt and India PCT Fee Increases from March 1, 2024
Highlights of the Egypt and India Updates:
- Annex D – International Searching Authorities
- The Search fee will decrease from CHF 118 to CHF 110 for Egypt.
- The Search fee will decrease from CHF 110 to CHF 102 for India.
Norway Madrid Fee Increases from March 1, 2024
Highlights of the Norway Updates:
Application Fees
- The Application fee for one class of goods and services will increase from CHF 248 to CHF 309.
- The Application fee for additional classes will increase from CHF 64 to CHF 81.
- The Application fee for a collective, guarantee or certification mark will decrease from CHF 342 to CHF 325.
- The Application fee for additional classes for a collective, guarantee or certification mark will decrease from CHF 141 to CHF 134.
Renewal Fees
- The Renewal fee for one class of goods and services will increase from CHF 222 to CHF 276.
- The Renewal fee for additional classes will increase from CHF 86 to CHF 106.
- The Renewal fee for a collective, guarantee or certification mark will decrease from CHF 440 to CHF 418.
- The Renewal fee for additional classes for a collective, guarantee or certification mark will decrease from CHF 180 to CHF 171.
