Forecasting EP Validation costs in IP Forecaster is a quick and easy process. These forecasts can be Saved, Emailed, and/or Exported for later use or distribution to team members or clients to review.
Let’s create a forecast for EP Validation costs in Germany, Ireland, Norway and the UK for an application with 5 claims and 40 total pages.
- From your dashboard at the top under Create New Forecast, simply click the button labeled “Patent”. This will take you directly to the Patent Forecast Request screen.
- From the Patent Forecast Request screen, select your Starting Point of European Patent Organisation (EPO). You can use type-ahead to narrow the list and either arrow to your selection and hit the enter key or click on the country to select it. Now the system has loaded the additional questions needed for your forecast below.
- Under Select states for national validation, select Germany, Ireland, Norway and United Kingdom. You can use type-ahead to narrow the list and either arrow to your selection and hit the enter key or click on the country to add it to the list.
- Under the Application Details tab, enter 5 for Total Claims and 40 for pages.
- In Settings (right side of screen), click on the toggle for Include EPO. This will remove the fees for the EPO filing in your forecast results.
- Additionally, click the toggle for Include All Phases. This will expand the options for individual phase selection. In this case, you can leave all set to to ON except Maintenance Costs. Click the toggle by it to remove those fees from your forecast. This will ensure your forecast results will only be for EP Validation costs in the countries selected.
- Lastly, click on the Create Forecast button at the bottom to generate your results.
- Congratulations! You have just completed an EP Validation forecast. The results generate with a grand total amount as well as totals for each country. Clicking on the arrow by the country and EP Validation phase allows you to expand those sections for more details.
- If you need to make changes, simply click on the Edit button at the bottom to be taken back to the parameters screen.
- You can also export and or email the results in Word, Excel and PDF formats.
