The new year always brings a new batch of patent and trademark conferences, and this year is no exception. Travel budgets are incredibly tight, but conferences are one of the most cost and time-efficient ways to stay on top of an ever-changing industry.
Here are three of our favorite Q1 events!
LegalWeek 2024: Jan 29 – Feb 1
This New York conference is one of the world’s largest and longest-running legal conferences. For some inexplicable reason, they’ve moved it earlier in the year (last year’s was in March), but it’s still worth the trip. While it isn’t a dedicated IP show, there are always topics and vendors that will resonate with an IP audience.

Global IP Exchange USA: Jan 30-31 Europe: Mar 11-14
This Invite-only, IP-specific conference brings together senior IP leaders to discuss and share insights about topics relevant to IP owners. Don’t want to brave winter in New York for LegalWeek? Global IP Exchange’s US conference is in sunny Florida. Their European conference is in Dusseldorf, Germany. Agenda topics for both conferences include AI (not a surprise) and portfolio management, and there will be a discussion about the Unitary Patent at the EU conference.

IPBC Europe 2024: Mar 18- 20
This is another IP-specific conference that brings together senior IP owners to engage around IP business-specific and commercial topics. This year’s conference is in Munich and will serve up sessions on getting the most from the Unitary Patent system, as well as licensing strategies and IP as a funding source.
