Fee updates continue to be light as the year winds down. This week, we’ve got a small patent fee update for Portugal courtesy of the PCT Applicant’s Guide and a small patent fee increase in Denmark. Don’t let the slow pace of updates fool you. There are some larger updates on the horizon: Australia has opened a significant fee increase for public review, and the United Arab Emirates has announced a substantial change to their fees effective later in 1st quarter, complete with new claims-based pricing. We’ll cover Australia and the United Arab Emirates in our January 2nd fee update post.

Updated PCT Patent Fees in Portugal
In Annex C: Receiving Office, new fees will be in effect on January 1 :
- The International Filing Fee will increase from EUR 1378 to EUR 1381.
- The Electronic filing (the request) in character-coded format will increase from EUR 207 to EUR 208.
